There is a range of activities available at the daycentre. I wanted to capture the pleasure, laughter and friendliness, which typifies The Grange. During the first session I linked the camera to a television set, and assured people that there was no tape in it. When they saw how photogenic they were there was no problem in shooting a video at the next session. The participants also edited this in I Movie.
has lived in the West of Newcastle all her life. Her conversation is a splendid eye-opener on local history and memory. She told me about places she went as a child and a young woman, and I went off to find them. There are only two of Mary's stories here, but I am sure there will be more now that she has developed a taste for filming them.
One of the great pleasures at The Grange is a hot, scented bubble bath in luxury, as well as comfort and safety. Jane Amers volunteered to be the star.
